The Conservatoire wishes to appoint two Academic Managers to deliver operational and academic management across the School of Popular Music and Voice, one with a start date of 1 January 2025 and the other starting on the 1 April 2025.

Academic Managers will be responsible for line management of academic staff, timetable management, co-ordination of student groups and student support, contribution to and co-ordination of assessment processes, retention and recruitment activities, contributions to curriculum development of existing programmes and future curriculum development.

The role requires the operational management of modules on programmes within the school. This will include leading on material selection, collation of schemes of work and other associated resources, and taking a leading role in relation to assessment and feedback. Academic Managers will be acting as module co-ordinators but also working to support part time module co-ordinators in their relevant areas.

Academic Managers will liaise actively with other departments as well as external organisations and/or individuals to deliver a well functioning and supportive teaching and learning environment. They will also contribute to the planning and delivery of extra curricular activities, notably our extensive programme of Masterclasses.

The successful candidates will also deliver teaching across the School of Popular Music and Voice as appropriate to their specialisms.
Successful applicants will have extensive knowledge of one or more of the following curriculum areas: Popular Music, Songwriting, Music Therapy and Music Pedagogy. They will also have relevant industry experience, and with strong networks to the music industry. It is essential that candidates have previous experience of teaching and academic management in the HE sector.

The Academic Managers will work closely with the Head and Deputy Head in the School of Popular Music and Voice, as well as the School Administrator, other Academic Managers and a range of Part Time Lecturers.
Applicants should have highly developed communication skills, be collaborative and willing to work with a team of managers and lecturers to deliver an excellent student experience and contribute to a thriving work environment.
