Crescendo Facilitator – Crescendo Pilot Expansion Project
The Ulster Orchestra, along with their partners Colin Neighbourhood Partnership, Shankill Children’s Zone and Queen’s University Innovation Zones, are seeking an experienced and qualified music facilitator to be part of a new element of our flagship Crescendo Project. The partners’ vision is to improve outcomes for children through music.
The project aims to increase the resilience, aspirations and emotional development of children from areas of social and economic disadvantage through a programme of music skills development, to increase participants’ musical skills while contributing to their improved wellbeing and self-worth.
Situated in four schools in north and west Belfast, the current project aims to deliver weekly workshops with P1-P3 classes to develop fundamental music skills and progress to learning orchestral instruments from P4-P7.
The Department for Communities has now confirmed support for a pilot project to deliver Crescendo activity with 4 new schools in the Colin and Shankill areas.
We are recruiting facilitators to deliver this activity for 10 weeks in the period January-March 2026. Facilitators are required to deliver beginner instrumental workshops for P7 pupils, using a whole class teaching approach:
Workshop duration: 1 hour
A delivery plan will be provided
There will be a range of hours available. Attendance may be required at preparation/evaluation sessions and these will be paid in addition to delivery outlined above.
