Disability Advisor

Career stage: Senior

The Royal College of Music is seeking to engage a Disability Advisor to join its small, experienced Student Services team who provide counselling, disability support, pastoral care, wellbeing initiatives and a confidential and impartial advice service to all students on a range of matters. We are looking for candidates with the following attributes:

 

  • You should be experienced in providing disability support and wellbeing advice in a professional capacity in a Higher Education context and in supporting people with a range of complex support requirements, including those with mental health problems.
  • You should have the ability to prioritise competing demands, pay attention to detail and manage complex decisions in relation to the support requirements of disabled students, working to tight deadlines.
  • You should be able to work independently, as well as part of a small Student Services team and in collaboration with other teams and colleagues across the College.
  • You should have experience of handling sensitive data appropriately and maintaining confidentiality and a good understanding of the principles of safeguarding within a Higher Education environment.
