Emerging Musicians Fellowship

What is the Emerging Musicians Fellowship? 

The Emerging Musicians Fellowship is a development opportunity for emerging orchestral musicians, offering a paid immersive experience with a fee of £2,500.

Our fourth cohort of Fellowship Musicians were announced in September 2025 and will be undertaking their year-long placement in the 2025-26 season. You can find out more about our current Fellowship Musicians here.

Emerging Musicians Fellowship 2026-27

Applications for the Royal Liverpool Philharmonic Orchestra Emerging Musicians Fellowship are now open and will close at 12pm on Thursday 27 November 2025.

The Fellowship offers early-career orchestral musicians an immersive experience of professional orchestral life, on and off the concert platform. In the 2026-27 season, four Fellowship Musicians will be welcomed to the Royal Liverpool Philharmonic Orchestra, undertaking five patches of inductions, rehearsals, performances, training (musical and non-musical) spread over the period June 2026 – July 2027. Fellowship Musicians will rehearse and perform alongside the Orchestra for three intensive weeks.

The Fellowship will culminate in a final wrap week including an exit audition (to join our regular extras list, or for ongoing development), a chamber performance programmed and performed alongside other Fellowship Musicians, and sessions around ongoing musical and professional development. The wrap week is also an opportunity to welcome the next cohort of Fellowship Musicians to the programme and grow the Alumni network.

Fellowship Musicians will attend a two-day induction in Liverpool on 11–12 June 2026. Musicians must be available for these dates to undertake the Fellowship.
