This Stress Awareness Week, Black Lives in Music is proud to announce its new partnership with Music Minds Matter, the leading mental health service supporting everyone working in the UK music industry.
The partnership marks an important step in our shared mission to create an industry that values wellbeing, inclusion and long-term sustainability. Music Minds Matter, set up by Help Musicians, provides a 24/7 mental health support line and free counselling, and leads on research and education programmes to help people stay healthy and resilient in their working lives.
Over the past year, Music Minds Matter has supported more than 600 individuals through self-care and resilience sessions, empowering music professionals to manage stress before it becomes a crisis. To continue expanding this proactive approach, the charity has welcomed eight new partners into its Music Minds Matter Alliance, including Black Lives in Music, The Ivors Academy, Music Venues Trust, Music Managers Forum, Music Producers Guild, Drake Music, and Sound Connections.
Together, we are uniting to promote early intervention, open dialogue, and a culture of care that reaches every corner of the industry.
Charisse Beaumont, CEO of Black Lives in Music, said:
“For Black and Global Majority musicians and industry professionals, mental health is directly connected to daily lived experience, from underrepresentation and financial barriers to systemic racism. Our research highlights how these factors impact wellbeing, and why culturally relevant, early support is essential. This partnership with Music Minds Matter is about prevention, collaboration, and making sure people feel supported before they reach crisis point.”
At BLiM, we believe mental health and inclusion go hand in hand. Through this partnership, we will continue working to break down stigma, create safe spaces, and build an industry that supports every individual’s wellbeing, regardless of background, role, or identity.
