BLiM at Classical:next 2022

Roger Wilson

Black Lives in Music to present showcase at ’Classical:next 2022 in Hannover, Germany – Chaired by Roger Wilson (UK), director of operations, Black Lives in Music

Why does classical music continue to fail to reflect the diversity of the wider global community? The Black Lives Matter movement has added urgency to the diversity agenda. The tragic murder of George Floyd precipitated worldwide comment on racism and continues to promote an anti-racist narrative in the arts sector. It’s time to see a little less conversation and a lot more action. Change involves everyone, from manager to musician. Roger Wilson (Black Lives in Music) talks frankly about the need for change and why we all need to discuss racial inequity in classical music today. We discuss together what can be done and how we can all work together to build an inclusive community.
