Since its launch, BLiM Connect has stood as one of Black Lives in Music’s most impactful programmes, a programme that brings talented people together, opens up possibilities, and rewrites the narrative of who gets to thrive in the music industry.
At its foundation, BLiM Connect is about community. It is about final-year music students and early career professionals from Black and ethnically diverse backgrounds being matched with experienced and accomplished mentors who see their potential, hear their voices, and understand the unique journeys they are on.
Over the four months, mentees took part in a guided programme providing top-tier one-to-one mentorship, industry insight sessions, hands-on training, and tailored career support. But beyond the calendar of events, the true power of BLiM Connect lies in what it unlocks, which is confidence, clarity, and community.
For mentors, it is just as transformative. Many have called it a privilege, a chance to reflect and support the next generation in shaping a music industry that reflects the richness of the world we live in. As a bonus, the mentors were also able to learn from mentees to enrich their work and businesses.
BLiM Connect is not just about where mentees and mentors are now, it is about where they are going.
The programme is part of a wider mission to ensure underserved music creators have equitable access to musical education, industry networks and real, sustainable career pathways. Whether the destination is a conservatoire, a studio, a stage, or a boardroom, BLiM Connect helps pave the way.
