Turn It Up head to Glastonbury as part of the Worthy Rise Programme
At Glastonbury 2025, Black Lives in Music proudly placed participants from our Turn It Up programme at the heart of one of the world’s most iconic festivals. Through Worthy Rise, a collaborative initiative championing gender expansive and female sound engineers, our cohort joined professional sound teams across the festival site, gaining invaluable hands-on experience in high-pressure live music production.
Beyond Technical Training
Worthy Rise offered more than skills development. The programme created space for visibility, confidence-building, and meaningful connection. For many engineers, it proved career-shifting. A chance to be seen, heard, and celebrated in an industry that too often overlooks underrepresented voices behind the scenes.
Full-Spectrum Representation
Black Lives in Music was proud to contribute to this groundbreaking initiative, ensuring representation exists not just on stage, but at mixing desks, in production pits, and across every technical space. These efforts reflect our programme’s core mission: building confidence while providing the tools and experiences needed for professional growth.
Professional Excellence Under Pressure
Throughout the week, engineers demonstrated professionalism, focus, and care. From stage preparation to balancing live mixes, they immersed themselves in both technical and creative aspects of sound production. Every task contributed to a larger vision: a future where production teams reflect the full spectrum of talent across our industry.
Next Steps
Worthy Rise supports the next generation while moving the sector toward greater inclusion. This year’s Glastonbury experience marked a meaningful step in that direction, and we celebrate what our engineers achieved.
We remain grateful for this opportunity and committed to continuing this vital work, together.
