Recruiting Classical 2025: Strings Auditions Now Open

Black Lives in Music is proud to launch the third cycle of Recruiting Classical, a pioneering initiative offering string players from the global majority the opportunity to audition for extra work with eight of the UK’s leading orchestras.
New for 2025, BLiM is delighted to welcome the Hallé and Ulster Orchestra to the programme, joining a growing network of orchestras committed to greater equity and inclusion in classical music.
If you play violin, viola, cello, or double bass and identify as Black, Asian, or from any ethnically underrepresented group, we want to hear from you.

  • London Philharmonic Orchestra
  • Bournemouth Symphony Orchestra
  • Royal Liverpool Philharmonic Orchestra
  • Royal Northern Sinfonia
  • Royal Philharmonic Orchestra
  • City of Birmingham Symphony Orchestra
  • The Hallé (new for 2025)
  • Ulster Orchestra (new for 2025)

Audition 

  • Locations: London and Manchester
  • Dates: July 2025
  • Format: All eligible applicants are guaranteed an audition. Panels will be screened and include global majority representation.
