We’re excited to announce the Equaliser Mentorship Programme 2024, an exciting new initiative aimed at nurturing the next generation of live sound professionals from global majority backgrounds. Applications open on 7th October, offering a unique chance to gain hands-on experience at some of the UK’s most prestigious venues.
In collaboration with Serious, the Equaliser Mentorship Programme will offer paid work placements and mentorship at iconic venues like the Royal Albert Hall and the Barbican.
Successful applicants partake in a year-round programme working alongside top professionals in live sound engineering, technical setup, and concert production and gain experience at standout events such as the Late Night Jazz series and the Barbican’s celebrated summer concerts.

This opportunity allows you to:
- Work directly with expert live sound teams at the Royal Albert Hall and the Barbican.
- Get involved in sound engineering, technical setup, and concert production for some of the UK’s most exciting live music events.
- Be part of the Take Five cohort, joining eight talented jazz and improvising musicians for a five-day residency in the Cotswolds. You’ll participate in workshops, assist with live sound, and create your own live mix of the final performance.
Who Should Apply?
We’re looking for emerging live sound professionals from global majority backgrounds who:
- Have at least one year of experience in sound engineering or production.
- Are primarily based in the United Kingdom (UK nationality is not required).
- Can commit to the residency dates and are ready to take the next step in their career.
