His appointment follows an open call from Guildhall Young Artists and Black Lives in Music to nurture diverse talent and representation within the orchestra.

Guildhall Young Artists and Black Lives in Music today announce that conductor Bradley Wilson has been selected as the inaugural Conductor in Residence with the London Schools Symphony Orchestra (LSSO). This appointment follows an open call from Guildhall Young Artists and Black Lives in Music to nurture diverse talent and representation within the orchestra.
Whilst in his role of Conductor in Residence with the LSSO, Bradley will be involved in all aspects of the orchestra, including attending audition panels and taking sectional rehearsals, as well as conducting the Orchestra in concert.
Currently in his final year of studying for a Bachelors in Music with Performance at the Royal Birmingham Conservatoire (RBC), Bradley is a sought-after instrumentalist and conductor. As a trumpet player with Chineke! Orchestra, he has performed in a wide variety of concerts from Classic FM Live to Paris Fashion Week. In addition to guest appearances with the Orchestra of the Swan, and Music of the Unseen, he serves as Music Director for The Rusty Players, and conductor for The Peoples Orchestra. As part of his studies at RBC, Bradley plans to form a new Midlands-based orchestra for the global majority with an aim to provide a safe performance space for amateur musicians and students.
As an advocate for diversity in the music industry, Bradley has spoken at conferences to encourage inclusivity and representation in classical music. In addition to his work as a performer and conductor, Bradley has assumed the roles of School Representative with RBC, Ambassador for Black Lives in Music and consultant for the Centre of Equality, Diversity and Inclusion in the Arts, with Birmingham City University.

The Conductor in Residence scheme forms a part of Guildhall Young Artists’ commitment to support young musicians from historically under-represented backgrounds and is part of an ongoing partnership with Black Lives in Music to help build an equitable, inclusive environment at Guildhall School.
